LUELLA DELL ROBERTSON WILLIAMS

1921-2016

-

Luella Dell Robertson Williams got her wing. “God’s will was done” at 8:17 a.m. on Friday August 5, 2016 (some cal it T.O.D. Time of Death) but we might argue that it was (T.F.N.L. Time For New Life). She finally got her “wings” and ascended peacefully after courageously battling the disease: Alzheimer’s in full-battle-gear and all it’s “weapons of mass destruction” for many years only armed with God’s grace. Luella was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, friend and soldier in the army of the lord. Alzheimer’s may have won the war but she took the battle into “double” over-time, but she knew “death was not her enemy” and Alzheimer’s was, and vowed that “nexttime around”, she will be victorious.

Luella was born December 19, 1921 in Glen Flora, Wharton County Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age at the Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Glen Flora and was a faithful member of Houston’s True Light Missionary Baptist Church for decades.

Luella graduated Nursing School with an Associate Degree (L.V.N) and went on to have a storied nursing career that lasted 40 plus years at both Texas’s Children’s Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital where she honorably retired.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents Ned and Geraldine Robertson and Sylvester Williams. She is survived by her son Lawrence V. Williams. Other survivors include Sister Rosamary Hamilton, Grand-Daughter Ebony L. Williams, Grandson Adarryl L. Hunter, God-Children: Shanice Taylor, Stephanie Herring and Sister-in-laws James Ethel Williams-Veal, Great-Grand Children Jakobe Davis, Amaya Davis, Adariel, Unique, Bobbie, Tommie, Frankie and Ethan Hunter. Luella being one of eleven children was preceded in death by sisters: Ora Hamilton, Roberta Robinson, Doris Jackson, Alberta Robinson-Smith, Bertina Walker, brothers Claude G. Robertson, Ned B. Robertson Jr., Floyd Robertson and Robert O. Robertson, Sister-in-Law Elisabeth Williams and Brother-in Law Joe Williams.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation and special thanks to her primary Care Provider Ms. Gwen Luddington. In lue of flowers the family request donations be made to the war on Alsheimer’s at 6055 S Loop E Houston, TX. 77087.
