‘Grim Sleeper’ is sentenced to death in slayings

LOS ANGELES — A serial killer known as the “Grim Sleeper” was sentenced to death Wednesday for the murders of nine women and a teenage girl that went unsolved for years as the body count grew in a poor section of Los Angeles.

Prosecutors presented evidence at trial linking Lonnie Franklin Jr. to 14 slayings, including four women he wasn’t charged with killing. They have said he may have had as many as 25 victims.
