Walk to cure Crohn’s disease raised more than $123,000

- By Jennifer James

More than 900 Houston residents stepped up recently during the ninth annual Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America South Texas Chapter Take Steps Walk at the Houston Zoo, raising more than $123,000.

“Our Houston walk usually attracts 500 to 600 supporters, so to see such a huge increase in support feels amazing, and I am frankly awestruck,” said Jen Small, walk manager for the chapter.

“I am especially proud of our Honored Hero and patient ambassador Caitlin Rowley for leading the charge again this year.

Caitlin raised over $21,000, setting a new alltime record for teams in Houston.”

Rowley, a 17-year-old high school student from Cypress, was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2013. For information, visit www.cctakesteps.org.
