JOHN W. APGAR

1936-2016

Services for John W. Apgar, 80, of Kennard, will be held at Noon Saturday, August 13, 2016 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin, Texas, with Jimmy McIntire officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery.

Mr. Apgar was born June 19, 1936 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the son of the late Jessie (Nelson) and John W. Apgar. He passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Apgar was in book binding industries for 30 years and an additional 20 years as the owner of Classic Covers by Apgar in the Houston area. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sharon Apgar; daughters, Angela McKay, April Apgar and Denis Apgar; son, John Apgar, Jr.; 4 grandchildren; 4 greatgrandchildren; brother, Orvin Wayne Apgar; brother-in-law, Lanny Glasscock; and sisterin-law, Sandye Jack.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Apgar was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ann Johnson.

Pallbearers will be members of his Uvalde hunting pals.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
