Dynamo’s Horst suspended

-

Dynamo Defender David Horst was suspended for one game by the MLS Disciplinary Committee on Thursday for violent conduct that endangered the safety of an opponent in last weekend’s match at Montreal.

Horst, who has played every minute of the last 14 league games, will serve the ban Saturday during the Dynamo’s home match against Toronto FC. He also has been fined an undisclosed amount.

The play in question occured on a Montreal corner kick in the 35th minute. Horst was marking Hassoun Camara when Montreal’s Patrice Bernier set a pick on Horst. As Horst muscled around Bernier, he raised his elbow and struck Bernier in the head.

The Dynamo dressed only four defenders against Montreal with Agus, DaMarcus Beasley and Raul Rodriguez missing multiple games because of injury. In other soccer news: • Caity Heap scored a pair of goals, and the Dash defeated Baylor 4-0 in an exhibition at Waco. The Dash will return to National Women’s Soccer League play when they host the Washington Spirit on Thursday at BBVA Compass Stadium.
