Design Center sample sale offers discounts to public
If you’ve ever wanted access to the cool things that only interior designers can get, here’s your chance.
The Houston Design Center, open primarily to trade only, throws open its doors to the public once a year for its annual designer sample sale.
You’ll find bargains on luxury furnishings, including antiques, art, accessories and floor samples. It includes lighting, rugs and furniture for home or office.
Participating showrooms are Bunch & Shoemaker, Charlotte Nail Antiques, Design House Inc., Jann Wisdom Designs, Johnson Simon Resources, Lighting Treasures, Pride of Persia Rug
Co., Postmodern Traditions, Scene One Interiors and Teri Pugh Studio.
Discounts range by store, but there are great finds at every location. Some examples: At Scene One Interiors, they’re trying to clear the store for a massive remodeling job; everything in the store is 60 percent off. At Bunch & Shoemaker, everything in the store is at least half off, and the hottest items are often found on their $30 table that clears out early.
A few designers tap into some unused space they call the “annex” to fill with things they’ve had in their warehouses. It’s a real mish-mash of items, from a Christmas tree to French antiques, chandeliers to kitchen hardware. In the annex, there’s a 92-inch dining table with inlaid wood that regularly sells for about $10,000; for the sale, it’s priced at $1,500.
If you’re in need of rugs, Postmodern Traditions has a pile of them for $600 and up.
