Tucker can’t shake shoulder problem

- Jake Kaplan

CLEVELAND — Outfielder Preston Tucker’s rehab from a right shoulder strain has stalled, making it unlikely he rejoins the Astros soon if at all before season’s end.

Although on a rehab assignment with Class AA Corpus Christi, Tucker hasn’t played since Wednesday. He went 2-for21 with nine strikeouts in his first six rehab games.

“He’s still not feeling 100 percent and has a little discomfort swinging the bat, so he’s not going to swing for now,” Astros manager A.J. Hinch said.

Corpus Christi begins postseason play Wednesday.

He struck out with the bases loaded in the eighth. … In earning a save against the Rangers on Sunday, Ken Giles registered seven pitches 100 mph or faster, two more than he had all season entering the game, according to Statcast. A 101.54 mph fastball to Adrian Beltre marked his fastest of the season.
