1B Chris Davis was out of Wednesday’s starting lineup against Tampa Bay because of a sore left hand.

Davis left in the fifth inning of Tuesday night’s win over the Rays.

With an off day Thursday, Davis is expected to play Friday against Detroit.

KANSAS CITY ROYALS

C Salvador Perez has only a bruise on his right wrist after getting hit by a pitch Tuesday.

X-rays on Perez’s throwing hand showed no broken bone, but Perez was held out of the starting lineup at Minnesota on Wednesday. Perez has 20 home runs and 59 RBIs in 121 games.

LOS ANGELES DODGERS

Scott Kazmir has experience­d a setback in a minor league rehabilita­tion start, leaving Wednesday night’s game early with neck and ribcage issues. The team says Kazmir will return to Los Angeles for further evaluation. The LHP didn’t last an inning in his first rehab start in Class AAA.

MINNESOTA TWINS

After hitting his 39th home run of the year Tuesday, Brian Dozier tied Alfonso Soriano for most homers hit by an AL second baseman, set in 2002.

NEW YORK METS

With another victory on Wednesday, the club has won 13 consecutiv­e games against Cincinnati. That mark is the longest current winning streak for one team against another in the majors.

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

Matt Carpenter’s ninth-inning home run in Tuesday’s night rally against Pittsburgh set a single-season major league record as it was the team’s 15th pinch homer.

WASHINGTON NATIONALS

Hours after he was activated from the DL, Stephen Strasburg left in the third inning of Wednesday night’s game against Atlanta. Strasburg had been sidelined due to right elbow soreness. He gave up one run and two hits with four strikeouts and no walks, throwing 42 pitches.
