Manage wardrobe easily with closet organization

- By Maria Ward

Whether you have a big selection of clothes or a small one, maintaining an organized closet allows you to manage your wardrobe easily.

Some seniors save their old clothes too long. It is much better to buy some new crisp pieces rather than wear aged clothes from way back when because they are still good!

To stay organized in your closet, sort all your clothes by type: pants, skirts, shirts, pajamas, jackets, dresses, sweaters, etc. Hang up everything except underwear. Turn all the clothes in the same direction. Also sort all your shoes by type, turning them all in the same direction.

If you are looking for a little more organization, use different types of hangers for your clothes. As an example: For pants, use wire hanger with a paper tube, for blouses use light wire hangers, for sweaters and jackets, use a store plastic hanger, for skirts use plastic hangers with clips, for T- shirts use a tube plastic hanger, etc. The idea is to have a distinct hanger for different clothes items.

If you want to go to extremes, place items you plan to wear again in the front of the grouping and clean items in the back of the grouping. You will soon notice the clothes in the middle of the grouping may seldom get worn. It may be time to consider giving the ones you do not wear to a charity.

It is soothing to look at your closet and everything is in order. Make sure you follow the plan every day.
