Texans at Broncos

1 When: 7:30 p.m. Monday TV: ESPN During the Howard CosellDon Meredith era, Mondays were practicall­y holidays. So we’ll act like this game at Sports Authority Field between the Texans (4-2) and Broncos (4-2) is part of an extended weekend.

Texas A&M at Alabama

2 When: 2:30 p.m. Saturday TV: CBS Unlike the year Johnny Manziel took the Aggies into Tuscaloosa and won, the No. 1 Crimson Tide (7-0) won’t be caught sleeping this time. No. 6 Texas A&M (6-0) does have quarterbac­k Trevor Knight, who beat Alabama while at Oklahoma.

UH at SMU

3 When: 6 p.m. Saturday TV: ESPN 2 The Cougars (6-1) are on the verge of returning to the top 10 at No. 11, but they still need help if they’re going to a New Year’s Six bowl. Of course, they must keep winning, which they should against the Mustangs (2-4).

Cubs vs. Dodgers

When: Saturday, Sunday. TV: FS1 There will be a Game 6 and possibly a Game 7 at Wrigley Field as Chicago and Los Angeles vie for a berth in the World Series against Cleveland after the Indians finished off their fivegame ALCS victory over Toronto on Wednesday.

Ole Miss at LSU

5 When: 8 p.m. Saturday TV: ESPN This is one of the great old-time rivalries. LSU, 4-2 after firing Les Miles, has moved back into the rankings at No. 25 but will face a challenge from the No. 23 Rebels, the country’s best three-loss team at 3-3.

Colts at Titans

6 When: Noon, Sunday TV: CBS For those closely following the AFC South, this game could be devastatin­g for Indianapol­is (2-4). A loss would leave the Colts 0-3 in division play, while the Titans (3-3) would still be in the thick of the race.

Texas at Kansas State

7 When: 11 a.m. Saturday TV: ESPN2 The Longhorns (3-3) and Wildcats (3-3) are seventh and eighth, respective­ly, in the Big 12. But the Longhorns didn’t look defenseles­s for a change in the victory Saturday over Iowa State, while Kansas State was losing 38-17 to Oklahoma.

Oklahoma at Texas Tech

When: 7 p.m. Saturday TV: Fox Baker Mayfield, not considered good enough to start at Tech, should get his revenge after transferri­ng to No. 16 OU (4-2). The Red Raiders (3-3) had an ugly 48-17 loss to No. 12 West Virginia last Saturday.

Alabama 500

When: 1 p.m. Sunday

TV: NBCSN The NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase will be cut to eight drivers after this race at Talladega. Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin, who have won seven races between them this season, are in danger of not advancing.

Rockets at Spurs

10 When: 7:30 p.m. Friday TV: Root This is the Rockets’ final preseason game. They will have a few days off before starting the regular season next Wednesday at the Los Angeles Lakers in a 9:30 p.m. game on ESPN.
