CYCLING

The Bike-Houston Moonlight Ramble, a cycling event with a 44-year history, begins late Saturday night at Saint Arnold Brewing Company (2000 Lyons Ave.). The midnight ride is a fundraiser to support safe streets in Houston. Participan­ts are encouraged to wear costumes and decorate their bikes and can choose from 10- and 20-mile route options. The Bike to the Beach ride begins Saturday at 6 a.m. at Judson Robinson Jr. Community Center in Houston and finishes 100 miles later at Beach Park No. 2 in Galveston. Tennis Express HTA Junior Fall Festival tournament will be at Lee LeClear Tennis Center this weekend. Youngsters from 8 to 18 are competing at various age and skill levels on the newly resurfaced courts.

The Houston Tennis Associatio­n recently donated $141,000 to the Houston Parks & Recreation Department through the Houston Parks Board to upgrade the courts at Homer Ford and Lee LeClear tennis centers. Work has been completed on the 16 courts at Homer Ford and on almost all of the 26 at Lee LeClear. The courts’ new blue acrylic surfaces feature blended lines, which define a smaller area of the court for 10-and-under beginning players. Call 281-580-8313.
