Cast your ballot

- Glenda Carnahan, Richmond

Regarding “Focus on social studies needed to boost voting” (Page A21, Friday), we are blessed in the United States to have the right to vote. Some citizens of some other countries do not have this right.

However, voting is not just our right; it is our responsibility. I am surprised to hear that so many people this year say they do not plan to go to the polls, because they either do not like the candidates or can’t decide who to vote for.

Not voting is not an option. It is each citizen’s duty to do research on what the candidates believe regarding important issues that affect all of us. If they still can’t decide on a candidate then they should read the Democratic Party platform and the Republican Party platform. They are as different as night and day.

Citizen must do their homework and be informed and vote for the candidate who best supports their values and beliefs. Either Hillary Clinton or Donald J. Trump will be our next president.
