Voter ID rules
Voters with one of the following seven forms of ID must present it to enter the voting booth: a Texas driver license; a Texas Election Identification Certificate; a Texas personal identification card issued by the Department of Public Safety; a Texas concealed handgun license; a U.S. military identification card with photo; a U.S. citizenship certificate with photo; or a U.S. passport. All forms of ID must be valid or expired for less than four years. Voters who do not have one of the above forms of identification and cannot reasonably obtain one may present one of the following: a valid voter registration certificate; an original, certified birth certificate; a copy of or original current utility bill; a copy of or original bank statement; a copy of or original government check; a copy of or original paycheck; a copy of or original government document listing the voter’s name and an address (original required if it contains a photograph). Voters who present a supporting form of identification rather than a photo ID also must complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration.
