Voter ID rules

Voters with one of the following seven forms of ID must present it to enter the voting booth: a Texas driver license; a Texas Election Identifica­tion Certificat­e; a Texas personal identifica­tion card issued by the Department of Public Safety; a Texas concealed handgun license; a U.S. military identifica­tion card with photo; a U.S. citizenshi­p certificat­e with photo; or a U.S. passport. All forms of ID must be valid or expired for less than four years. Voters who do not have one of the above forms of identifica­tion and cannot reasonably obtain one may present one of the following: a valid voter registrati­on certificat­e; an original, certified birth certificat­e; a copy of or original current utility bill; a copy of or original bank statement; a copy of or original government check; a copy of or original paycheck; a copy of or original government document listing the voter’s name and an address (original required if it contains a photograph). Voters who present a supporting form of identifica­tion rather than a photo ID also must complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaratio­n.
