Wilson fined for hit in Texans game
Detroit Lions safety Tavon Wilson was fined $24,309 on Friday by the NFL for a hit on Texans tight end C.J. FIedorowicz.
Wilson was punished by the league office after delivering a shot to Fiedorowicz that shook him up during a 20-13 win over the Lions on Sunday at NRG Stadium.
Wilson was penalized for hitting a defenseless receiver.
Fiedorowicz went to the locker room to be evaluated and was cleared under the NFL concussion protocol, returning to play in the remainder of the game.
“I took a shot,” Fiedorowicz said Sunday. “I didn’t black out or anything. I just got a little dizzy for a couple seconds.”
Also fined Friday were Green Bay linebacker Datone Jones ($36,464) for his roughing-the-passer penalty against Atlanta last week. Jones is a repeat offender, resulting in the large amount doled out by the league.
Cincinnati’s Shawn Williams was docked $24,309 for spearing, a result of a hit on Washington’s DeSean Jackson during the teams’ 27-27 tie in London last Sunday.
Also fined $24,309 for unnecessary roughness penalties was Oakland’s Karl Joseph. The Raiders’ Donald Penn was hit with an $18,231 fine for unnecessary roughness; Michael Crabtree has to pay $9,115 for taunting.
Arizona’s Calais Campbell and Rodney Gunter each was fined $18,231 for hits on Carolina’s Cam Newton last weekend. Also from that game, Carolina’s Leonard Johnson has to pay $9,115 for unnecessary roughness after ripping Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer’s helmet off.

Jacksonville’s Jalen Ramsey and Dante Fowler each was docked $9,115 for unnecessary roughness against Tennessee.
