Girls HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

- Adam Coleman

Boys

Trelon Smith Cypress Ridge

Notable: The senior running back carried 33 times for 356 yards and five TDs in a 55-28 win over Katy Taylor, sending the Rams to the regional semifinals for the first time in eight years.

What coach Gary Thiebaud said: “Every week, Trelon gets ready to play, and he loves to compete, he’s very focused, and as a back he’s very explosive. He’s got a quick gear (change), where he can get to full speed real fast, and obviously he can score anywhere on the field because of that. He catches the ball well out of the backfield, he’s got great vision — he’s a complete back and a very humble kid who loves to play.”
