The annual Beaumont Enterprise Super Gold Awards ceremony honors the best high school football, volleyball and cross country athletes in Southeast Texas. The invitation-only ceremony takes place Monday evening, and will include the announceme­nts of the MVPs for all three sports. Follow #BEScores for updates from the event.

HSFB Playoffs: West Orange-Stark vs. Navarro

1 When/where: 7 p.m. Friday, NRG Stadium The Mustangs need one more victory to make a third-straight trip to the Class 4A Division II state final game. The UIL football state championsh­ips will take place Dec. 14-17 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington as 12 teams vie to become champions over a four-day period. But first comes tonight’s game and should they beat Navarro, the Mustangs will face the winner of Gilmer and Sweetwater for the title. Gilmer defeated West Orange-Stark in the 2014 state title game.

Lamar University hosts soccer camp

3 When/where: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Lamar Soccer Pavillion The Lamar Cardinals will host a winter soccer camp, designed for female high school players looking to continue their playing career in college. The first of two December camps is set for today. A separate three-day camp for boys and girls from ages 5 to 13, will take place on Dec. 19-21.

Lamar Men at UTRGV

4 When/where: 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, UTRGV Fieldhouse The Lamar men’s basketball team has made trips to San Francisco, Fresno, Portland, Pocatello and Chicago during the non-conference season and continues its road trek on Friday against UTRGV, a ten-hour bus ride south toward the border. The Cardinals beat the Vaqueros 8360 last season in Beaumont.

High school wrestling

5 When/where: 8 a.m. Saturday, Sam Houston High, Houston Beaumont high schools will send their wrestling teams out for their first tournament­s of the season. Central and Ozen will travel to Sam Houston High on Dec. 10 for the Houston Round Robin tournament, and West Brook will open their season at the Lamar Consolidat­ed tournament on Dec. 17. The Central girls will compete at the George Ranch Girls Tournament at George Ranch High on Dec. 17.
