Marilyn Fredrick Billings of Houston, passed away January 10, 2017. Marilyn was born to a prominent banking family in St. Louis, Missouri. Her father, George Russell Fredrick was President and Chairman of the Board of Southwest Bank of St. Louis which he developed to be one of the leading banking economic indicators in the United States.

She graduated from Ward Belmont High School, Ladies Finishing School, Nashville, Tennessee. She earned her First Degree from the University of Chicago - Philosophy, and her Second Degree from University of Iowa - Philosophy. Marilyn made her Debut in St. Louis, and worked five years after college for Delta Airlines traveling internatio­nally. She married Thomas J. Billings at St. John the Devine, River Oaks, Houston, Texas, April 28, 1956.

Marilyn has been a member of Delta, Delta, Delta sorority, Life Member of University of Texas and University of Iowa, Friends of Governor’s Mansion - Austin, Chancellor Council University of Texas, Institute of Texan Cultures San Antonio and The President. Council CCSU, President’s Council Westminste­r College, Fulton, Missouri; She has serve on the Board of the YWCA, Family Counseling, St. James Episcopal School, The Friends of St. James and Padre Industries, Inc., The President’s Associates and The Chancellor’s Council for the University of Texas.

She was a Corporate Executive for Padre Industries, Inc. The Lexington Museum, The Art Museum, Corpus Christi Museum, Friends of the Library, Texas State Aquarium.

Mrs. Billings is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Billings; three sons, Thomas F. Billings and wife Leslie of Dallas, Robert P. Billings and wife Cynthia of Houston, Jonathan H. Billings and wife Janine of Tulsa, OK; five grandchild­ren, Colin, Courtenay, Grant, Victoria and Philip Billings. Visit www.DettlingFu­neral.com to leave words of condolence for the family.
