Manziel pledges changes for new year

Johnny Manziel has taken to Twitter for some apparent self-therapy.

“No lie.. I was a (expletive) in 2016 I’m just trying to be a good PERSON again,” Manziel wrote Thursday via Twitter post.

He added the hashtag: #LostInTheSauce.

Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner from Texas A&M, hasn’t played organized football in more than a year, after he was cut by the Cleveland Browns following two subpar seasons in the NFL.

Manziel owned the reputation as a partyer at A&M, but in the past year he has ratcheted up the revelry, in losing much of his muscle mass, drenching his body in tattoos and owning what amounted to a 100-yard stare in multiple pictures that surfaced.

Few believe Manziel is serious about making a comeback in the NFL, considering the deck was stacked against him from the start based on his size (6-foot, 200 pounds at the time). But he certainly wrote a good game Thursday.

“Have to LIVE these words not just TWEET them,” Manziel posted.

Asked via Twitter by a Dallas radio station if someone had hacked Manziel’s Twitter account, Manziel responded, “Nah. Admitting is the first step.”

He had started a mini-tweet barrage by writing, “Haven’t been this happy in a long time man. I appreciate all of the people in my life who reached out during the truly rough patches in ’16.”

Manziel has been more active on his Snapchat account as well, posting videos and photos of him eating healthy in California.

Manziel, 24, is scheduled for autograph sessions during Super Bowl week in Houston at the Katy Mills and Woodlands malls, on Feb. 2 and Feb. 3. According to advertisements promoting the session, Manziel will charge $99 to sign any item, among other offerings, including $50 for a selfie.

Oddly, Manziel posted on Twitter on Thursday, “… I’m not charging a penny for a damn ‘selfie’ at the Super Bowl. Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”

Meanwhile, plenty of fans will consider Manziel’s Thursday tweets some of the dumbest things they’ve ever read, until he acts on his pledges.
