No. 19 SMU tops Tulane to stay perfect at home

DALLAS — Semi Ojeleye scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half, including consecutiv­e 3-pointers in the SMU run that finally put the 19thranked Mustangs ahead in an 80-75 victory over Tulane on Wednesday night.

With the rally from a 15-point halftime deficit, SMU (23-4, 13-1 American) extended its home winning streak to 20 games in a row, including all 16 this season. The AAC-leading Mustangs have a ninegame winning streak and have won 19 of their last 20 games overall

Jarrey Foster had 19 points, including three consecutiv­e dunks in one stretch for SMU. Ben Moore had 15 points with 13 rebounds, while Shake Milton and Sterling Brown each had 13 points.

Ojeleye, a former Duke transfer, missed his first 10 shots before making a 3-pointer less than two minutes into the second half. Even though he finished 4 of 17 shooting overall, he scored the first eight points in a 13-0 run that put SMU ahead to stay.

The Mustangs were within 56-55 after Ojeleye’s consecutiv­e 3s and went ahead for the first time when Brown had a steal and a breakaway layup with 9:43 left.

OKLAHOMA ST. 71, TCU 68

Leyton Hammonds scored 21 points, Jeffrey Carroll added 17, and the Cowboys beat the Horned Frogs in Fort Worth.

Brandon Averette hit two free throws after a steal by Carroll to give Oklahoma State a 68-67 lead with 1:03 remaining. Evans hit a long jumper for a three-point lead with 13 seconds left. TCU didn’t call timeout, and Kenrich Williams and Alex Robinson each missed a 3-pointer in the final seconds.

JD Miller scored 16 points for TCU (17-9, 6-7).

DUKE 65, VIRGINIA 55

Jayson Tatum scored 21 of his 28 points in the second half, and the No. 12 Blue Devils pulled away late to beat the No. 14 Cavaliers in Charlottes­ville, Va., for their sixth win in a row.

Luke Kennard added 16 points for Duke, which is now tied for second in the Atlantic Coast Conference with Florida State and Louisville. All three are a game behind No. 10 North Carolina.

CINCINNATI 68 SOUTH FLORIDA 54

Kevin Johnson scored 14 points, and Gary Clark had 13 points and 14 rebounds as the No. 18 Bearcats bounced back from their first loss in two months with a win over the Bulls in Tampa, Fla.

SETON HALL 87 CREIGHTON 81

Khadeen Carrington scored the final 10 points of his career-high 41 in the closing minute, and the Pirates made a big stride toward the NCAA Tournament with an upset win over the No. 20 Bluejays in Newark, N.J.

ARKANSAS 83 SOUTH CAROLINA 76

Jaylen Barford tied his career high with 23 points, and the Razorbacks got their first road win over a ranked opponent in almost three years with a victory over the 21st-ranked Gamecocks.

Women HOUSTON 65, TULSA 62

Jacqueline Blake scored a career-high 22 points, and the Cougars defeated the Golden Hurricane in Tulsa, Okla., to secure a sweep of the teams’ regular-season series.

Jasmyne Harris and Dorian Branch added 15 and 11 points, respective­ly, for Houston (10-16, 3-10 American).

MARYLAND 89 WISCONSIN 40

Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 22 points, and the second-ranked Terrapins breezed past the visiting Badgers for their 14th straight victory.

WEST VIRGINIA 66 KANSAS ST. 59

Chania Ray and Lanay Montgomery had doubledoub­les, and the host Mountainee­rs held on to upset the No. 24 Wildcats despite blowing most of a 19-point lead.

LAMAR 81 HOUSTON BAPTIST 53

Kiandra Bowers scored a career-high 32 points, and the Cardinals (18-6, 11-3 Southland) routed the Huskies at Sharp Gym.

Lisa Zderadicka had 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead HBU (5-18, 3-10).

OKLAHOMA ST. 88, TCU 70

AJ Alix had 23 points to lead the Horned Frogs, but she couldn’t stop TCU (12-13, 4-10 Big 12) from falling to the Cowgirls in Stillwater, Okla.

IOWA ST. 79, TEXAS TECH 68

Recee’ Caldwell led the Lady Raiders with 18 points, but the Cyclones held on for a victory over Texas Tech (11-14, 3-11 Big 12) in Ames, Iowa.

CENTRAL ARKANSAS 75 SAM HOUSTON ST. 48

Brianna Mullins scored 17 points, and the Sugar Bears routed the Bearkats (2-21, 2-11 Southland) in Conway, Ark.
