Anne Richardson Woods, 73, passed away on March 8, 2017 after a brief illness. Anne was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, October 5, 1943, to Margaret and Jack Richardson.

Anne and her future husband William F. Woods III grew up in Shreveport and attended school together, graduating from Byrd High School in 1961. Anne attended Louisiana Tech and graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles in 1965.

Bill and Anne were married in Shreveport at Noel Memorial Methodist Church on August 18, 1967. Bill and Anne taught school in Shreveport after graduating. They moved to Houston when Bill was accepted at South Texas College of Law. In Houston, Anne taught at Spring Branch Middle School and St. Vincent De Paul Catholic School. After she retired from teaching, Anne worked with Bill as his paralegal, as an Assistant Harris County Clerk, and as a staff member in Harris County Probate Court #2.

Bill and Anne were members of Christ Church Cathedral. Anne was a member of the State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division, was inducted as a Golden Graduate of McNeese State, was a season football ticket holder at Rice University and later at Texas A& M, and establishe­d a scholarshi­p fund at South Texas College of Law in Bill’s memory.

Anne’s husband William F. Woods III and her father Jackson M. Richardson predecease­d her. Anne’s niece Lorianne Nevin Day also predecease­d her.

Anne is survived by her mother Margaret (Lumpkin) Richardson of Houston, sister Margaret Bates of Kansas City, Missouri, and brother Jackson M. Richardson, II of Sugar Land, Texas; nephews Robert M. Nevin and John B. Nevin, both of Monett, Missouri, and great nephews James M. Day, Shawnee, Kansas, and Jackson M. Nevin, Benjamin M. Nevin, and J. Spenser Nevin, all of Monett, Missouri; sister-in-law Gayle Woods Polk and husband John R. Polk; nieces Terry Polk and Peggy Polk England and husband Carl, and great nieces and nephews Carl William England II, Elizabeth Louise England, and John Preston Polk.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079 on Monday, March 13, 2017, from 5:00 until 8:00. Services will be at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., with graveside services immediatel­y following. A reception will be held in the Events Center in the funeral home.

The family asks that any memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice in Anne’s name.
