LaSeema May Skaff Malerelis, beloved wife, sister, mother and Grandmothe­r, fell asleep with the Lord on March 23, 2017. Laseema was born in Sioux City, IA, on May 30, 1930. Her parents were Joe and Sadie Skaff and she was their baby of 11 other children whom have all preceded her. LaSeema began her working career in her brother George’s grocery store when she was a teenager. She then became a Beautician and enjoyed the fun times meeting new people. LaSeema soon met her beloved John and began their life of 55 years of marriage. They moved to Houston a few years later and there is where she worked as a Retail stylist, which quickly became her career of many years. She worked at Battelstei­n’s and Frost Brothers in River Oaks. When those stores closed she worked and retired from Talbots in River Oaks. She had many many friends that were very dear to her. She never met a stranger.

Laseema was a lifelong member of the Antiochian Orthodox church community. The churches she belonged to were St. Thomas in Sioux City and St. George Orthodox church in Houston. She was proud of her faith and heritage and very active in the community.

Her greatest pleasures were her family, grandchild­ren and friends. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Malerelis-Bassett and her Husband John Bassett; grandchild­ren, John Blake and Benjamin and her many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28th at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 5311 Mercer St., Houston, TX from 6:00pm to 7:00 pm, with a Trisagion service at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 29th, at 10:00 am at the church with a committal service to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
