Program can recover photos

Q: What software do you recommend for an SD card with an error message saying the card cannot be recognized and needs to be formatted? I have photos from my recent vacation stored on this card, and I don’t want to lose them!

A: As a photographer, I can empathize with you on this one. There is nothing worse than the thought of losing precious images from a once-in-alifetime event to a faulty memory card.

I had a good friend who went on safari, and she came back only to find her memory card was showing the same error you are seeing.

I used a program called Easus Free SD Card Recovery Software from easus.com, and it was able to recover most of the images. It could not get them all, but it was a huge relief to my friend.

The free version will allow you to recover only upto2GBof data. If you have more than that, you will need to pay for the pro version.

The good news is that you don’t have to pay anything to see if your data can be saved. You only pay to do the recovery.

Q: I’ve read conflicting advice about how low the charge should be before initiating a charge for an iPhone. What do you think is best?

A: There’s a lot of talk back and forth about the best method of maintaining battery life on mobile devices, but here is what you need to know.

Modern devices use lithium-ion batteries, which don’t have the issues the older nickel-based batteries experienced in terms of memory. People expressing ideas about how to treat batteries sometimes confuse what worked with lithium-ion batteries with how you should treat nickel-based batteries.

From what I have read, it is best to keep the device charged. In other words, top it off whenever you can. Not only is the better for the battery, it keeps you with a fully charged device more of the time.

I throw my phone on the charger at the end of each day because I can’t go through a whole day with anything less than a full charge. My last phone battery lasted three years and was going strong when I traded it in for my new one.
