ROBERT LAWRENCE (BOB) PIVONKA

1924-2017

Robert Lawrence “Bob” Pivonka passed away in Katy, Texas on March 22, 2017, at the age of 92. He was born on September 1, 1924 in Great Bend, Kansas to Robert J. and Irene Pivonka. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and graduated from Kansas State University in 1950. Bob began employment with Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America in 1950, where he worked until his retirement in 1980. He and Lucille Lange were married in Houston, Texas on May 24, 1952. When he retired, they relocated from the Chicago area to Simonton, Texas and in 1992, Bob and Lucille made Katy their home. Bob was an active parishioner of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, and a member of the Happy Hearts Club and the Knights of Columbus.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Diana Parker and her husband Randy of Houston, TX; his son, Charles Pivonka and his wife Cathie of Katy, TX; brothers, William Pivonka of Kansas City, MO, and Edward Pivonka of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; as well as by other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, their eldest son, Robert L. Pivonka, Jr. (Bobby), his sister, Ruth Dome, and his parents.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Schmidt Funeral Home, 1508 East Avenue, Katy, TX 77493, with a rosary recitation by Deacon Tom D’Andrea at 7:00 p.m. A mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 5356 Eleventh St., Katy, TX, with a reception following at the Parish Hall. Interment in Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston at 2:00 p.m. with military funeral honors by the U.S. Navy.
