WHAT TO WATCH
The best sports events to watch on TV this weekend.
NCAA men’s championship
When: 8 p.m. Monday TV: CBS OK, it’s a close second no matter who’s playing. Viewers who don’t have a team in this game at Glendale, Ariz., no doubt are hoping for a buzzer beater like Villanova’s over North Carolina last year at NRG Stadium.
NCAA men’s semifinals
When: 5:09 p.m., 7:39 p.m. Saturday TV: CBS It’s the Pacific Northwest vs. the Carolinas in one of sports’ most entertaining nights annually. Gonzaga faces South Carolina in the first game. Oregon faces North Carolina in the second.
NCAA women’s Final Four
When: Friday, Sunday TV: ESPN2, ESPN No Texas teams are involved, but there’s one tie to the state with the Final Four in Dallas. The semifinals are at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday on ESPN2. The final is set for 5 pm. Sunday on ESPN.
Shell Houston Open
When: Friday-Sunday TV: Golf Channel (Friday), NBC (Saturday-Sunday) World No. 1 Dustin Johnson withdrew Monday. But four of the top 10, including No. 6 Jordan Spieth, are entered in the final PGA Tour event before the Masters.
Rockets at Warriors
When: 9:30 p.m. Friday TV: Root As the regular season winds down, this could be a preview of either the Western Conference semifinals or finals, although injured Kevin Durant won’t be back until the playoffs. The Rockets visit Phoenix at 8 p.m. Sunday, also on Root.
Miami Open tennis finals
When: Noon Saturday (women), noon Sunday (men), TV: ESPN2 The men and women are playing at the same site for the second consecutive event, giving it the feel of a major. Neither top-seeded player reached the semfinals as Stan Wawrinka lost to Alexander Zverev on the men’s side and Venus Wiliams upset Angelique Kerber in the women’s quarterfinals.
STP 500
When: 1 p.m. Sunday TV: FS1 Going into the sixth race of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, there still hasn’t been a repeat winner. Kyle Larson won last week at Fontana, Calif.
Red Bulls at Dynamo
When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday TV: KUBE Like the Dynamo, New York won its first two MLS games before a loss, then followed with a scoreless tie against Real Salt Lake last weekend. The Dynamo are 2-1 after losing two weeks ago at Portland.
World Figure Skating Championships

When: Noon Friday (women), noon Saturday (men)
TV: NBCSN With less than a year before the 2018 Winter Games, favorites will emerge with these championships in Helsinki. U.S. champions Karen Chen and Nathan Chen, no relation, are seeking their first world seniors medals.
