ATLANTA BRAVES
Slugger Freddie Freeman says his broken left wrist is healing much faster than expected.
After undergoing a CT scan and meeting Friday with team physician Dr. Gary Lourie, Freeman was told his wrist is 80-90 percent healed.
The improvement led Freeman to move up the timetable of his return from July 14, the day after the All-Star break against Arizona, to July 6 at NL East-leading Washington.
BOSTON RED SOX
The team has claimed RHP Doug Fister off waivers in a move to provide depth to a rotation that has struggled with injuries.
Manager John Farrell said Fister is slated to make his first start in Sunday’s series finale against the Angels.
He spent the 2016 season with the Astros, going 12-13 with a 4.64 ERA.
• The team has also agreed to a minor league contract with IF Jhonny Peralta, 10 days after he was released by St. Louis.
Club president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said Peralta will play 3B for Triple AAA Pawtucket and is expected to report Monday.
KANSAS CITY ROYALS
Chris Young, the team’s winning pitcher in the 2015 World Series opener, had been designated for assignment.
Reliever Neftali Feliz agreed to a one-year contract with the team Friday, four days after he was released by Milwaukee.
Young had a 7.50 ERA in two starts and 12 relief appearances. Feliz had eight saves in nine chances for the Brewers before losing the closer’s job.
LOS ANGELES DODGERS
LHP Julio Urias, the team’s top prospect, needs shoulder surgery and will miss the rest of the season. Urias is expected to be sidelined for 12-to-14 months.
MIAMI MARLINS
A person familiar with the negotiations says former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has joined the group led by businessman Tagg Romney that is trying to buy the team.
The person also said South Florida businessman Jorge Mas has contacted the team and said he’s interested in buying the club.
