Pauline “Mimi” June Kearns Swallen went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, the 26th of June 2017. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday on the 18th of April. Mimi was an adoring Mother, Grandmothe­r, Great-Grandmothe­r and devoted friend who demonstrat­ed unconditio­nal love to her family and instilled in them a love for the Lord. Mimi was such a kind, loving, and giving person and an “angel on earth” to those who knew her.

The love of God, family and friends was the primary emphasis of Mimi’s life. She will be remembered for her loving heart, positive attitude, encouragin­g words, and her contagious joy of the Lord. She had a zest for life and poured encouragem­ent and affirmatio­n into everyone that she came in to contact with.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 42 years, Rollin “Jim” Swallen; and survived by her son Richard “Dick” Swallen and daughter Betsy Hudson and husband Ed “Bubba” Hudson. She is also survived by her grandchild­ren Mary Beth Winter and husband Tim, Brian Swallen, Will Swallen and wife Jennifer, Wendy Petersen and husband Jon, Jamie Wright and husband Bradley plus 11 great-grandchild­ren Emily and Timothy Winter, George and Charlie Swallen, Elizabeth, Hudson, SaraGrace and Wesley Petersen, and Avery, William and Walker Wright.

Mimi was an active member of Second Baptist Church and her beloved Chapter AY of P.E.O.

The family wishes to acknowledg­e the compassion­ate care provided by Sandy Smith, Linda Clarady and Debbie Kinney of Encore Caregivers.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock this afternoon until seven o’clock this evening, Wednesday, the 28th of June, in the parlor and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

Following a private interment at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, a memorial service and celebratio­n of her life is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 29th of June, in the Sanctuary of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive in Houston, where Dr. H. Edwin Young is to officiate.

Immediatel­y following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the nearby Deacons Parlor.

In lieu of customary remembranc­es, and for those desiring, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributi­ons be considered and directed to Second Baptist Church Beach Retreat Fund, 6400 Woodway Dr., Houston, TX, 77057; or to P.E.O.
