A 24-year-old man was injured after a drive-by shooting late Tuesday in south Houston.

The gunfire erupted just before 11 p.m., when a black Ford Crown Victoria sped past a gas station and convenience store in the 7600 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard, said Capt. Megan Howard with the Houston Police Department.

At the same time the 24-year-old man, identified by police as Javonte Robertson, was walking on the sidewalk near the gas station.

The driver of the Ford fired multiple times, hitting Robertson once in the leg.

The driver continued southbound on Martin Luther King.

The injured person has been taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive, Howard said.
