WILLIAM “BILLY” FINK

1927-2017

-

William “Billy” Fink, 89, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Florence Danburg Fink, his daughters, Marilyn Muchowicz and her husband Mitch Muchowicz, and Lainie Gordon and her husband David Mincberg, and his granddaughter, Samantha Gordon Danner and her husband Matthew Danner.

Billy was born on September 4, 1927 to Ann Fink Redman and Harry Fink in Houston. He was the couple’s only child. After graduating from Jefferson Davis High School in 1945, Billy was drafted into the U.S. Army. He met his wife, Flo, at a baseball game while he was on leave. They courted for three years and were married in 1951. From 1951 – 1952, Billy was called back to serve in the Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, Flo and Billy made a happy life together in their beloved hometown of Houston, where they raised their daughters, and where Billy worked in retail and at a family company, Fixtures International. Billy and Flo celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2016 and lived in the same home in Southwest Houston for 62 years. Billy loved fishing, playing poker, exercising at the YMCA, listening to big band music, and watching classic films. Though he was usually a man of few words, Billy’s sly smile and quiet chuckle signaled his happiness to his friends and family. He will be dearly missed.

Billy’s funeral service will be held at Congregation Beth Yeshurun, 4525 Beechnut, on Thursday, June 29th, 2017 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Jewish Family Service, Career and Recovery Resources, Inc., or Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, Inc.
