1 When: 7:08 p.m. Friday. TV: FS1 So you expected the Yankees to go quietly in New York? Nothing goes quietly in New York. The teams return to Minute Maid Park for Game 6 of the ALCS. Game 7, if necessary, would be played here Saturday at 7:08 p.m. on FS1.

Mavericks at Rockets

2 When: 7 p.m. Saturday. TV: ATTSW After opening the regular season with two victories on the West Coast, the Rockets play their home opener against Dallas. Because of a sore knee, Chris Paul’s status is uncertain.

Cowboys at 49ers

3 When: 3:05 p.m. Sunday. TV: Fox Dallas had a week off to recover from Aaron Rodgers’ heroics that brought Green Bay back to beat them in the fourth quarter. Next up is San Francisco, one of the NFL’s two winless teams.

Falcons at Patriots

4 When: 7:30 p.m. Sunday. TV: NBC Although the Patriots have been struggling, they continue to find a way to win. The Falcons know that all too well as they go into this Super Bowl rematch.

Oklahoma State at Texas

5 When: 11 a.m. Saturday. TV: ABC The Longhorns put a scare into No. 9 Oklahoma before losing. Now they’ll try to do the same with a different outcome against No. 10 Oklahoma State.

Michigan at Penn State

6 When: 6:30 p.m. Saturday. TV: ABC With defending national champion Clemson’s loss, the Nittany Lions moved up to No. 2 in the polls and play host to the No. 19 Wolverines, who haven’t been dominating despite their 5-1 record.

USC at Notre Dame

7 When: 6:30 p.m. Saturday. TV: NBC In one of college football’s best intersecti­onal rivalries, the No. 11 Trojans travel to South Bend to face the No. 13 Fighting Irish with both teams trying to find a route into the playoff picture.

Syracuse at Miami

8 When: 2:30 p.m. Saturday. TV: ESPN Is Miami back? The Hurricanes are undefeated and ranked No. 8 in the country. Syracuse is familiar with pulling off upsets after toppling defending national champion and second-ranked Clemson last week.

Fire at Dynamo

9 When: 3 p.m. Sunday. TV: KUBE Both teams have secured MLS playoff berths and are now battling in the final regularsea­son game at BBVA Compass Stadium for higher seedings.

Hollywood Casino 400

10 When: 2 p.m. Sunday. TV: NBCSN With five races remaining, the third round of NASCAR’s Monster Energy Cup playoffs begins at the Kansas Speedway. Brad Keselowski broke up Toyota’s dominance of the playoffs last week with a victory at Talladega.
