Douglas Keith Staley, 75, of Friendswoo­d, Texas, went to be with the Lord peacefully in his home on Thursday, October 19, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He passed away from complicati­ons of brain cancer after an 18 month battle. Douglas was born May 24, 1942, the son of Keith and Edith Staley in Oakland, California. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1965. He worked his whole career as a Chemical Process Engineer for Celanese Corporatio­n, most of the time at the plant near Clear Lake, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Karen Ames on October 12, 1968 and remained happily married for 49 years.

A car lover and gardener his whole life, Douglas did both as much as he could, even moving all his garden dirt from Clear Lake to their new home in Friendswoo­d. He completed the restoratio­n of many cars including two of favorites that he owned, a 1953 Chevy 3100 Pickup and a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass SX Convertibl­e.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; and youngest brother, George.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; children, Greg and wife Michele, and Michael and wife Laurie; grandchild­ren, Grahm, Hannah, Ethan, Emily, and Ian; and brother, Richard and wife Lynn.

Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the Staley family from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswoo­d Drive, Friendswoo­d, Texas 77546, (281) 992-7200.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
