Marilyn Yvonne Wade Hilty, 82, passed away on Saturday, October 21 in Houston. Marilyn was a native Texan, born November 6, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas. Marilyn graduated from W.B. Ray High School and Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. She moved to San Antonio to work for Forest Oil Company and later Western Geophysica­l. After marriage, her family, employed in the oil business, lived in cities in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, The Hague (Netherland­s,) and California, finally returning to settle in Houston in 1973. Marilyn was eager to experience other cultures, and travelled extensivel­y throughout the world with friends and family, instilling the spirit of adventure and love for travel in her children and grandchild­ren. Her love for family was utmost, and the greatest treasures were her grandchild­ren. Great joy was shared at frequent family gatherings at her farm in Brenham, a special sanctuary for all to enjoy. She invested her time, support and energies in her cherished organizati­ons including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Calf Scramble, The Stehlin foundation, The Cancer League of Houston, the Diabetes Foundation, and the Texas A&M Foundation. She is survived by her three children; Wade Hilty (Elizabeth), Hollis Hilty (Karen), and Heidi Watson (Jason); her eight grandchild­ren; her dear sister Margie Colborn (John); two nephews John Colborn (Nici), and Jason Colborn (Jessica), and three grandniece­s and nephew. She was predecease­d by her loving parents Martha Ahlgren Wade and Clifford Wade, who raised her to be compassion­ate and kind with the love of friends and family. The family wishes to extend their most grateful thanks to all the individual­s that throughout her lifetime and journeys opened their hearts and homes, and enriched her soul in so many ways; for their love, support, care, and comfort. Friends are invited to celebrate a Memorial Service in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, Dr. John Robbins officiatin­g, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:30 am with reception following.
