1940-2017

-

Richard (Dick) Monday was born on September 20, 1940 in Johnstown. PA., and went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2017 in Houston TX. He was the first of six children born to Bill and Helen Monday. He graduated from Central Cambria High School in 1958 and from the University of Pittsburgh in 1962 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He married Judith (Judy) Riddle in 1964 and had 2 children, David and Lauri. In 1973, Dick moved the family to Houston where he worked until his retirement in 2007.

Dick’s passions were music, travel, and most importantly, his family. He and Judy were able to travel the world, and even lived in South Africa for a short time. He was close to his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Dick could make anyone comfortable with his dry wit and sense of humor. He was precise in everything he did, at work and at home.

Dick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Monday, as well as his brother Tim, and his sisters Peg, Sharon and Terry. He is also survived by his son David and his wife Kathleen of Allen TX and their children Alyssa, Rachel, Christopher, and Joshua, and his daughter Lauri Price of Houston and her children Joseph, Taylor, Sam, and Elijah.

His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Memorial Herman Cypress, ER and ICU, for their excellent care during his last few weeks.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Samaritan’s Purse, or the charity of your choice. In order to help the next generations of doctors and scientists learn more about the human body, Dick donated his body to Baylor College of Medicine.

Please join us in celebrating Dick’s life this Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:00 am at Grace Community Church, 1021 Campbell Rd, Houston, TX.
