WHAT TO WEAR
CAPED CRUSADERS, HALLOWEEN EDITION
Did you miss out on the epic Leather & Laces bash during Super Bowl week? Consider Saturday your lucky day. That’s when the legendary rager returns to Houston for one night only — and one very special cause.
Model/actress Charlotte McKinney — best known for her appearances on “Dancing With the Stars” and the “Baywatch” and “Flatliners” remakes — will host the inaugural “Vampires & Vixens Ball” — benefiting Easter Seals Greater Houston — at Silver Street Studios.
The invitation’s suggested attire encourages partygoers to show off their “devilish side,” though nonprofit insiders embrace more of a “let your freak flag fly” approach.
“For our bash, people are so incredibly creative that I don’t think you can really guide anybody,” said Kelly Klein, development director. After all, the organization has a reputation to protect; its annual soiree typically raises sixfigures toward serving individuals with autism, disabilities and other special needs. “We’ve talked about making it a theme, but every year, we’re just so amazed by the costumes.”
And there’s plenty of mischief in store, too. The spook-tacular scene promises haunted houses, celebrity DJs and a costume contest — that’s where Madison Shofner and Jazmin Grant come in.
In the spirit of giving, Easter Seals’ respective special event manager and human resources generalist test-drove pop-culture getups inspired by “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Wonder Woman,” courtesy of Frankel’s Costume. The takeaway? Not all heroes wear capes — except when they do.
