Irving leaves with injury as Celtics earn 11th straight win

BOSTON — Jayson Tatum had 16 points, Shane Larkin added 16 off the bench, and the host Boston Celtics overcame an injury to Kyrie Irving and a 12-point, fourthquar­ter deficit to beat the Charlotte Hornets 90-87.

Terry Rozier finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists, playing an increased role after Irving left the game in the first quarter after taking an elbow to the face. Jaylen Brown added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

The Celtics extended their win streak to 11 games. Charlotte has lost four straight.

Celtics center Aron Baynes’ elbow inadverten­tly struck Irving when Baynes was landing after a rebound attempt. Irving fell to the floor and was bleeding from the nose as he was escorted back to the locker room.

Irving was ruled out for the rest of the game while he was monitored for possible concussion symptoms.

Kemba Walker led the Hornets with 20 points and 11 assists.

The Celtics trailed by 12 after three quarters but opened the fourth on a 16-3 run and took the lead with 4:05 to play on a basket by Brown.

Charlotte struggled throughout the final period, going 4 of 20 from the field and committing six turnovers.

Andre Drummond had 16 points, 20 rebounds and a career-high seven assists, and Reggie Jackson made a pair of 3-pointers in the final minute to lift host Detroit to a victory over Atlanta.

The Central Divisionle­ading Pistons won for the seventh time in eight games.

Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 28 points and 12 rebounds, and visiting Milwaukee snapped a four-game skid with a victory over San Antonio.

Paul George scored 42 points, and Russell Westbrook had 22 points and eight assists as Oklahoma City beat visiting Los Angeles to snap a four-game losing streak.

Victor Oladipo scored 25 points, and visiting Indiana snapped a fourgame losing streak with a victory over Chicago.

MAGIC 128, SUNS 112

Aaron Gordon scored 22 points on 7 of 9 shooting and added seven rebounds, and Nikola Vucevic added 19 points to help Orlando beat host Phoenix.

D’Angelo Russell had 21 points as visiting Brooklyn snapped a four-game losing streak to Portland with a victory.

Dion Waiters scored 21 points as visiting Miami beat Utah.
