Julius Valentine Zella passed away peacefully on Veteran’s Day 11.11.2017 at the age of 95. He is preceeded in death by his parents Antonin Zella and Augustina Lesak, son Richard, four sisters and two brothers. Julius was born on Valentine’s Day 2.14.1922 in Gonzales, TX, the second of nine children. Julius married Leona Svec on 10.09.1948. Together they enjoyed dancing to the Czech Polkas and Waltzes at the many Church Picnics and Dancehall Dances for over 70 years. They raised four children. He loved to fish, build and fix things. He was extremely proud of his Czech Heritage, being born first generation American. He was devout in his Roman Catholic Faith. He served his Country during WWII in the US Army Aviation Corps. Member of the China-Burma India Veterans Assoc., Millwright Local 2232, American Legion, SPJST and the Catholic Community of St. Luke the Evangelist.

Julius is survived by his wife Leona, son Gary, daughter Denise, daughter Catherine Halata and husband Mark. Four grandsons Jeremy, Aaron, Tyler and Andrew.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday, November 14, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm, held at Niday Funeral Home - Beamer Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Wednesday, November 15, at the Catholic Community of St. Luke the Evangelist, 11011 Hall Rd., Houston 77089. Rite of Committal will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland. Those honored to serve as pallbearer­s are Tyler Stokley, Andrew Halata, Daniel Otto, Dale Pittman, Raymond Lesak, and Joe Pavlicek.
