Boys
Trenton Kennedy, Cy-Fair
Notable: Rushed for 110 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns, winning the Class 6A Division II championship game’s offensive MVP award and leading the Bobcats to a victory over Waco Midway.
What Kennedy said: “I knew I had to come out with a killer mentality. I knew I had to play hard every down. To have this result, man, it’s great.”

Abdul Alatishe, Westside: Named MVP of the HISD basketball tournament after scoring 24 points in the semifinal victory over Madison and 21 in the championship win over Lamar.
Jalen Preston, Man- vel: Set two state records in the Class 5A Division I state championship loss to Highland Park — receiving yards (220) and longest receiving touchdown (95).
Kam Scott, Manvel: His 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the Class 5A Division I state championship loss to Highland Park is a 5A state record and tied the overall record.
Girls
Kiara Stewart, Porter
Notable: Stewart had 23 points and 11 rebounds in a 51-35 victory over Splendora last week. The win keeps Porter in the District 21-5A playoff race.
What Stewart said: “We came out knowing that we were bigger than them. We took advantage. We played a little high-low action and a little outside action.”

Nakayla Bell, Clear Brook: Scored a gamehigh 20 points in a 49-45 loss to Clear Creek.
Blaise Blair, Clear Springs: The sophomore had a team-high 16 points in a victory over Clear Creek and followed with 11 points and seven rebounds in a win over Alvin.
Eva Sanchez, Fort Bend Austin: Sanchez scored 18 points and grabbed 13 boards in a 6940 victory over Clements.
