PEGGY BOSTON DUGGAN

1930-2017

-

Peggy Boston Duggan, born on July 29, 1930 in Houston, TX, passed away on December 22, 2017 to be with her Lord and Savior. Peggy grew up in a loving Christian home in Angleton, TX and graduated from North Texas State College in 1950. She married Lee Duggan, Jr. in September of the same year. Together they lived in Houston until 1966 and were active members of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Peggy had a strong faith and a giving heart. After moving to Sugar Land in 1966, she became involved in directing the choir at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church—a position she served in for 12 years. She was an original board member of the Tri-Cities Resale Shop, a Girl Scout volunteer, a Fort Bend Literacy volunteer, and a strong supporter of numerous other organizations within Fort Bend County. In 2010, she received the honor of being chosen a Fort Bend Jewel (Joyous, Extraordinary Women Enriching Lives). Peggy often said “You can never replace the joy in your heart that you get from giving. It comes back to you hundredfold.”

For many years, Peggy owned and operated The Window Seat, an antique and collectible store, where she enjoyed seeing old friends and making new friends. She was a talented pianist who, at age three, played her first concert at her church. She also loved to paint. Peggy saw the beauty of God’s creation in sunsets, flowers, and nature. But most importantly, Peggy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family. She “finished the race,” she “kept the faith” (2 Tim. 4:7), and her family looks forward to being united with her again.

Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Lee (Jack) Boston, and her mother, Marguerite Wendland Boston. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Lee Duggan, Jr., children Debbie Duggan Gamble and husband John, Lee Duggan III and wife Susie and Pamela Duggan Gray, her grandchildren Michael Gamble, Melanie Gamble Hausmann, David Gamble, Sara Duggan Callen, Haley Duggan Carpenter, Kelsey Gray, and Tyler Gray and her 10 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Juanita Lozano, a loving and faithful friend and caregiver, who is an important part of the family.

Celebration of Life service, January 3, 2017, 11:00 a.m., St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to East Fort Bend Human Needs, Child Advocates Ft. Bend or St. Luke’s Music Fund.
