1941-2018

-

Rosemary Shaw was the eldest of 12 children born to Harry Shaw and Josephine Boutte on December 13, 1941 in New Iberia, La. She grew up in Olivier, a small community outside of New Iberia, and while there she attended Jonas Henderson HS where she graduated Valedictorian of her class.

Upon graduation, she moved to Houston, TX in 1960 to attend Texas Southern University here she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. While there she met and married Robert Lee Wright in 1961 and from this union was born her one and only child, Linda Rene Wright. However, he couple did not wish for their daughter to grow up alone and brought into their hearts and home Rosemary’s sister, Rhondolyn Shaw to raise as a member of the family.

Rosemary has a long standing career as an accountant with Shell Oil Company where she retired after 25 years of service. Afterwards, she began a second career as a teacher where she nurtured and tutored many struggling students into success. She also had several businesses stemming from her love of all things old and unique. Her resale shop, “Once and Again”, gave her great pride and pleasure to showcase her unique sense of style and keen eye for the extraordinary.

In addition, Rosemary was a member of the esteemed Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and is a Cornerstone recipient of Houston’s One Delta Plaza. She was an astute card player, an avid NFL football fan, a TV game show aficionado, an admirer of beautiful gardens, and a patron of music and fine arts. She was a child of God and was a student of the Bible where she favored and often revisited the Book of Revelations.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20 at 2:00 pm at Westbury U.M.C 5200 Willowbend with viewing prior to service at 1:00. Interment will follow service at Houston Memorial Gardens
