Darden was born on May 19, 1935 along with his twin sister Darlene. He passed away January 18, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Mona of 57 years. His daughter Ellen and her husband Jeff. Six grandchild­ren Elizabeth and husband Jay, Amber, Dan and his wife Brooke, Max, Luke and Madelynn. Three great grandchild­ren, Lilly, Jayson and Emily. Also survived by his sister-in-law Donna Arledge and her husband Tillman, beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. Along with precious friends from his church family.

Preceded in death by parents, Houston and Viola Curtis, sister Darlene Bryant and husband Jim, brother E.J. Curtis and wife Willie, sister Maxine Alsbrooks and husband Elease. His mother-in-law Lois Blue and grandmothe­r-in-law Mona Harrington.

Darden was a man of faith, conviction, strength, character, wisdom and courage. He was always quick with a laugh, usually always able to find humor in a situation. He always had a smile on his face and chose to look on the bright side of things. He had such love and devotion for his family and loved being a husband, father, grandfathe­r and great grandfathe­r He was a member at the Greens Bayou Church of Christ for nearly 50 years. He served as a faithful member and was a former Deacon and Treasurer. He proudly served in the United States Army during the years of 1956-1958.Employed as a Rail Traffic Controller for the Houston Belt & Terminal Railroad he retired there after 37 years of service.

The family wishes to thank his beloved physician Dr. Lilette Daumas, Dr. Amir Karni, Dr. Charles Manner and A Better Hospice for all the loving care he received along the way.
