Typical Tom Quarterback Tom Brady authored another storybook finish Sunday, overcoming a painful hand injury suffered during a freak accident in practice. Brady gutted it out, wearing black tape on his stitched-up throwing hand, to lead the Patriots to a dramatic 24-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Championship Game.

Hometown hero Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola, The Woodlands native, caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Tom Brady. It was an acrobatic leaping grab in the back of the end zone by the former Texas Tech star, who caught both touchdown passes from Brady.

History beckons The Patriots have built an admirable dynasty as they seek to repeat as Super Bowl champions Feb. 4 in Minnesota. Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick are making their eighth trip to the Super Bowl and trying to win their sixth title.

Concussion protocol Get ready to hear those words a lot between now and the Super Bowl. Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski suffered a concussion and was knocked out of the game on a crushing hit from Jaguars safety Barry Church. The NFL has attempted to upgrade its procedures with the concussion protocol.

Old guard, new life Discarded by the Pittsburgh Steelers in a bitter late-season divorce, Patriots outside linebacker James Harrison got the last laugh — Harrison is back in the Super Bowl. The 39-year-old pass rusher was difficult to block and disrupted the Jaguars’ running game. He finished with three tackles.
