No. 12 Florida St. stuns No. 2 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A.J. Alix made a goahead 3-pointer with 1:04 remaining, and Nicole Ekhomu added a free throw with 7.8 seconds left, helping No. 12 Florida State hand No. 2 Louisville its first loss of the season, 50-49 on Sunday.

The Seminoles (18-2, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) trailed 22-9 after the first quarter before rallying, taking their first lead at 37-36 in the third quarter. They won despite shooting 28 percent overall.

Arica Carter’s 3-pointer put Louisville (20-1, 6-1) ahead with 1:54 to go. Alix answered from long range, then Ekhomu made the second of two from the line.

Louisville missed one shot and committed two turnovers in the final 30 seconds before Myisha Hines-Allen hit a layup as time ran out.

MISSISSIPP­I ST. 71 TENNESSEE 52

Victoria Vivians had 24 points as the No. 3 Bulldogs defeated the No. 6 Lady Vols in Knoxville, Tenn., to remain unbeaten and match their best start in school history.

Mississipp­i State (20-0, 6-0 Southeaste­rn Conference) also got off to a 20-0 start last season and went on to finish 34-5 with a loss to South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament final.

Tennessee (16-3, 4-2) has lost three of its last four.

A’ja Wilson scored 26 points after missing two games because of an ankle injury, leading the No. 10 Gamecocks over the Wildcats in Lexington, Ky.

Former Kentucky forward Alexis Jennings added 17 points and seven rebounds for South Carolina (16-3, 5-2).

Kia Nurse scored 24 points and freshman Megan Walker added a season-best 22 to help the No. 1 Huskies rout the Owls in Philadelph­ia.

Connecticu­t (18-0, 7-0 American Athletic Conference) was missing Katie Lou Samuelson, who was out with an ankle injury she suffered Thursday against Tulsa.

Paris Kea scored a career-high 36 points, including a 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds left that sent the game into overtime, and the Tar Heels ended a seven-game losing streak against the rival Blue Devils, defeating No. 15 Duke in Chapel Hill, N.C.

MINNESOTA 77, IOWA 72

Kenisha Bell scored 21 points, Carlie Wagner added 15, combining for six free throws in the final 25 seconds, and the Golden Gophers beat the No. 20 Hawkeyes in Minneapoli­s.

Kate Cain scored 14 points to help the Cornhusker­s beat the No. 25 Scarlet Knights in Piscataway, N.J.
