David Robinson, 86, of Houston, Texas passed away on January 9, 2018. Born in the Bronx, New York, when David was 5 the family moved to Manhattan where he attended the Little Red School House. At 16 he moved to Texas where he graduated from Wichita Falls High School and then Midwestern State University. He was an avid student and teacher of Political Science and Texas Politics, a course he created. He taught for nearly 50 years, starting his career in the Rio Grande Valley and then teaching at South Texas Junior College and, as it became, University of HoustonDow­ntown. David served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. For 19 years he was a College Trustee at North Harris/Montgomery College (now Lone Star College) and was active in the Democratic Party. He served frequently as an election judge and enjoyed travel, visiting China, Mexico, Alaska, England, France, Russia. Germany, Sweden, Estonia, and Finland. He is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Mary Kay McMurrough, his children, Carol ( john) Gardner of Spring, Michael (Dawn) Robinson of Spring, and Diane (Wayne Oudekerk) Robinson of Conway, AR, and by his grandchild­ren, Zachary Robinson, Tommy Gardner, and Abigail Oudekerk. He is predecease­d by his Mother, Deborah Greengold Robinson Stafford, and by his Father, Solomon Robinson. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038 at 2:00 pm on Monday, Feb. 5.
