There are good Super Bowls, and there are bad ones.

If history is any indicator, Super Bowl LII on Sunday in Minneapolis should skew more toward the former category.

While opinions are

mixed on whether NFL fans are tired of seeing the Patriots in the Super Bowl, what isn’t disputable is that championship games involving New England always seem to come down to the wire.

Of the Patriots’ seven

Super Bowls with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady at the controls, all seven were decided by six points or less. And all more or less were decided in the final two minutes.

That’s a stark contrast from 1983 to 1999, when only three of 17 games were decided by seven points or fewer.

Fortunately, blowouts have been the exception rather than the rule since 2000, with 12 of the past 18 Super Bowls decided by a touchdown or less.
