MARIAN PELLERIN HOLM, 97, born on April 14, 1920 in New Orleans, Louisiana, died peacefully on March 2, 2018 in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of William Louis and Elizabeth DeBlanc Pellerin. She moved to Houston at the age of 10. She attended St. Agnes Academy and later graduated from the University of Houston. She worked for Shell Oil Co. as a draftsman and later taught elementary school for almost 30 years. She taught second grade and kindergart­en at Travis Elementary School and at Braeburn Elementary School. While teaching at Travis Elementary her fellow teacher and friend, Marguerite Holm, introduced her to her future husband, Joe S. Holm. After retiring she continued to be involved with family, neighbors, friends, and was always smiling. She loved dogs, gardening, antiques and collecting cookbooks. She was an active volunteer with the Charity Guild of Catholic Women. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Joe S. Holm, her parents William and Elizabeth Pellerin, her brother Owen Pellerin, her sister and brother-in-law Rosemary Pellerin Leggett and husband Riley, her brother-in-law Sidney E. Holm, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Marchie Holm Mathews, and niece Mary Susan Mathews. Marian is survived by her son, Joel Gregory Holm and wife Helen, grandson Andrew Holm; brother and sister-inlaw Leo and Erline Pellerin, sister-in-law Marguerite Holm; and by nephews: Sidney E. Holm, Jr. and wife Shirley, Wally Holm and wife Karen, Stanley Mathews and wife Jan, Paul Leggett, John Pellerin and wife Brenda, Bill Pellerin and wife Isela; nieces: Tracy Leggett Cassidy, Alicia Lam and husband David, Shelly Bolman and husband Steve, Anne Pellerin Bradley and husband Barry, Patricia Pellerin Parise, Mary Pellerin Bennett and husband Steve, Katey Pellerin Hines and husband Dan; numerous great nephews and great nieces; cousins Lucille D’Amico and Frank DeJean; good friends Joe Lehan, and Father Roy Ogero. Special thanks is given to Dr. Julia Reyser, and to her many caretakers at St. Dominic Village. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Houston Humane Society. Visitation will be at Earthman’s Bellaire Funeral Home on Wednesday March 7, 2018 from 5 to 8 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church followed by burial at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
