Parkway Place fosters attitude of acceptance

-

As you go through life, “acceptance” becomes an increasing daily necessity. Accepting new people, new technologies and new family dynamics are all part of life. Acceptance can be difficult for some, but for residents at Parkway Place, this attitude of acceptance is purely positive.

Parkway Place, a Buckner senior living community, became a staple along Houston’s Energy Corridor in 1997. The thriving independent living community has been accepting new residents and welcoming them into the Buckner family ever since.

What’s more, these residents accept each other and make intentional effort to encourage and get to know one another.

In fact, if you take a walk around the 15-acre, landscaped community, you’ll see residents offering friendly greetings to one another during a beautiful morning stroll, catching up over a chef-prepared meal in the dining room or competing during a lighthearted game of water volleyball. For these residents, acceptance looks like welcoming those around you, accepting the love they extend to you and letting that positivity overflow in joy toward others.

Studies show that the more you accept compliments, encouragement and positivity from others, the more you want to give it. Parkway Place is marked by the number of active senior adults who give back to the local community. For example, residents like Jane Wulf and Margaret Parker meet every week to handcraft quilts for local charitable organizations.

Others like Aaron Mendoza partner with the Salvation Army during the holidays to make handcrafted wooden toys for children in need.

Whether there are organized efforts like these or simple gestures like spending the afternoon reading together in a neighbor’s cozy independent living apartment home, residents at Parkway Place live with a balance of accepting kindness from others and giving kindness back. It’s what makes so many Parkway Place residents smile each day.

Discover the positive power of acceptance and see the difference positive people can make in your life.
