Houston Chronicle will headline a list of speakers for this spring’s Life Enrichment of Houston (LEOH) programs.

LEOH, a learning experience for senior adults, will hold registration Thursday, March 15, from 10 a.m. to noon at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3511 Linkwood.

Tompkins’ speech, on March 29 at 11 a.m., is titled Houston’s Natural History, Past and Present. Many folks have little idea how rich this area, including the land and waters now inside Houston’s boundaries, were in wildlife and fisheries when the city started and still are today, Tompkins said.

A seventh-generation Texan, Tompkins has been a newspaper reporter for 40 years and has received more than 100 awards for his work. This spring he will be inducted into the Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame.

Other Town Hall topics include staying safe at home, how to protest your taxes, what’s going on with Brays Bayou and hurricane predictions.

A very important meeting of LEOH will be held March 22 at 11 a.m. to discuss the future of the organization. Bethany is scheduled to close May 31, and the group may have to find a new home. LEOH is one of the oldest senior groups in the area.

Cost is $20 for the eight-week program of classes and Town Hall lectures each Thursday from March 22 to May 10 at the church.

A light lunch for $3 is served.

For information or a brochure, call Ken Euler at 713-664-5740. You may register by mail or at any Thursday meeting. Also, LEOH has a website, leohtexas.org, where you can register.

There will be four trips in the Houston area. Classes are offered in beginning Spanish, beginning bridge and watercolor painting. Watercolor classes cost $40. Members also play bridge and other games.

Life Enrichment of Houston is a nondenominational, non-profit, allvolunteer organization.
