Rockies break Cubs’ win streak
CHICAGO — Charlie Blackmon and David Dahl opened the game with consecutive homers off Kyle Hendricks, and the Colorado Rockies cooled off the Chicago Cubs with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday. Colorado stopped a three-game slide. The Cubs had won a season-high five straight games, scoring three runs or fewer in each one.
TIGERS 2, RAYS 1: Matthew Boyd allowed one run in six innings, and that finally was enough to earn the lefthander a win when host Detroit beat Tampa Bay.
BREWERS 7, REDS 6: Ryan Braun hit a tiebreaking double, and Travis Shaw ended his slump with a tworun homer, lifting Milwaukee to a win at Cincinnati.
NATIONALS 12, PIRATES 4: Slumping Bryce Harper was moved to the leadoff spot for the first time since 2013 and responded with a three-run homer that helped Max Scherzer win his fifth straight start as the Washington beat visiting Pittsburgh.
RANGERS 8, INDIANS 6: Joey Gallo and Isiah KinerFalefa homered on consecutive pitches off Nick Goody in the 12th inning, and Texas won at Cleveland.
ROYALS 7, RED SOX 6: Alex Gordon hit a tying home run off Craig Kimbrel in the ninth inning, Jorge Soler hit a three-run homer against Brian Johnson in the 13th, and Kansas rallied to beat Boston at Fenway Park.
BRAVES 3, METS 2: Mike Soroka pitched six impressive innings to win his major league debut for Atlanta, and the Braves hammered Noah Syndergaard at the outset of a 3-2 victory at New York.
MARLINS 2, PHILLIES 1: Pinch-hitter Yadiel Rivera improved his .100 batting average with a one-out RBI single in the 10th inning to help host Miami win its fourth game in a row by beating Philadelphia.
BLUE JAYS 7, TWINS 4: Kendrys Morales homered twice for Toronto and reached base all five times he batted, including an intentional walk in the 10th when the Blue Jays scored twice on wild pitches by Minnesota's John Curtiss and sped past the host Twins.
CARDINALS 3, WHITE SOX 2: Matt Carpenter homered to start a ninth-inning rally, and Yadier Molina ended it with a single to drive in the winning run, lifting St. Louis over visiting Chicago.
PADRES 3, GIANTS 2: Eric Hosmer homered off San Francisco closer Hunter Strickland with two outs in the ninth, lifting San Diego over the host Giants.
