LUSIOUS BEN ROBINSON, SR.

Reverend Lusious B. Robinson, r was the youngest of 14 children born to the late Gabe and Mattie Jackson Robinson in Whitehall, Texas on September 10, 1922. He moved to Houston as a young man to seek his future in 1942.

Here he met and married Willie Mae Samlley in October 1943 and were blessed with nine children. Shortly after their marriage he was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharge November 10, 1945.

After returning to Houston he attended Barber College and ultimately purchased his own shop July 19, 1956 in Downtown Houston located at 413 Milan St. His was the second largest Negro owned shop in the City. He served his clients faithfully until 2000 when he retired due to health challenges.

He was a member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church (now Loving Word Fellowship Church) since 1946 and served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Church clerk and member of Board of Trustees until 2008.

He instilled the pursuit of higher education in all of his children... He has witnessed the conferring of numerous bachelor degrees in the Arts, Sciences, Nursing, Engineerin­g, Education and doctoral degrees in Business , Pharmacy, and Medicine. In fact he lived to see 3 generation­s of physicians.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Willie Mae Smalley Robinson, son Lusious B. Robinson, Jr., daughters Jacqueline Robinson Revely and Joyce Robinson Aldridge. Left to celebrate his life and legacy are daughters: Anne Robinson Carter, Beverly Robinson Benoit, Theresa L. Robinson, Willie Claire Robinson, Emily Robinson Woodson and son Terry R. Robinson, 11 grandchild­ren, 25 great grandchild­ren, 6 great great grandchild­ren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Loving Word Fellowship Church, 170 Rittenhous­e in Houston, Texas 77078. Visitation will start at 8:30 a.m. Funeral services will start at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Rev. Paul D. Landrew. Funeral arrangemen­ts entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, 5730 Calhoun Road, Houston, Texas 77021.
