WHAT TO WEAR

This is how to look like a real royal.

- BY AMBER ELLIOTT amber.elliott@chron.com

It’s hard not to catch royal wedding fever.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s love story, equal parts rom-com (an American actress swept off her feet by a real-life prince) and dramedy (file her father and half-siblings’ antics under #cantmakethisstuffup), is certifiably contagious. The Kardashians only wish their “reality” television show was this well-scripted.

Speaking of television, the live broadcast of the royal couple-to-be’s walk down the aisle, at Windsor Castle’s St. George Chapel no less, is worth waking up early for — like, really early.

Here in Houston, the most riveting “I do’s” since Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge née Middleton, and Prince William, will air at 6 a.m.

Want to get your watch party on? There’s no shortage of big screens capitalizing on the big day.

For an authentic viewing experience, try the British American Foundation of Texas’ Royal Wedding Party at the Royal Oaks Country Club. Or, sleep ’til 10 a.m. and catch Fathom Events’ coverage at Houston Marq*E Stadium 23, Cinemark 18 Webster and The Woodlands. Over-the-top Anglophiles should consider Hotel ZaZa Memorial City’s luxe package, complete with a poolside brunch, $50 spa credit, special turn-down service and tiaras for every royal-wedding-watcher.

Of course, the regal thing to do is bring your own crowned jewels. Donae Chramosta of the Vintage Contessa sells vintage rhinestone tiaras and “Contessa” or “Princessa” custom headpieces in her Houston-area showroom.

It’s the only known cure.
