The Houston bar scene is full of personalities — bar stars, if you will. Each week in Preview, we’ll feature one of these mixologists to let you know more about them, aside from how good they are at making you feel good.
Length of time working at current place?
We opened our doors April 13, 2018.
Nickname?
Rosé all day.
Lamest pickup line you’ve heard at the bar?
I usually hear lines like, “Are you tired?” and usually respond, “No.” Then they say, “Damnit, you messed up my line.”
Most famous person you’ve ever served a drink to?
Steven Tyler. He was smaller than I imagined but super rad — and he had some weird requests. That’s our secret.
Becoming friends with customers: yes or no?
Yes, unless they are creepy. Just kidding — the creepier the better.
Most common customer complaint?
“Why am I not single?”
Song you’ve gotten sick of at work?
We have the best playlist ever. That’s why my voice is always gone. I sing Bon Jovi as loud as possible.
What’s the sloppiest, drunkest thing you’ve ever seen on the job?
Someone (pooped) themselves. Then I quit.
What’s the most outrageous request you’ve ever gotten?
I cater to everyone. Outrageous is not in my vocabulary.
Where do you like to go have a drink when you’re not at work?
Next Door Bar, Dirt Bar, Reserve 101, Etro Lounge, Lola’s, Continental Club, Grand Prize and anywhere that plays rock ’n’ roll.
What’s your specialty drink, and how do you make it?
Fernet and a shot glass.
What’s something your customers may not know about you?
I collect rocks! Rocks are my special thing.
